Privacy Policy
How OpenSky collects, uses, shares, and protects information.

This Privacy Policy applies to the OpenSky mobile application, website, and related services.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, account identifier, and profile information.
Location information
If you grant location permission, we collect precise location information and associate it with your account. We use it for location-based features, including nearby-sighting alerts. You can disable location access in your device settings.
Sightings and media
We collect sighting details, photos or videos, timestamps, and related location information that you submit. Submitted content may be displayed to other OpenSky users as part of the crowd-verification service.
Subscriptions and purchases
Apple processes subscription payments. We receive purchase and subscription status needed to provide Premium access, but we do not receive or store payment-card details.
Device and notification information
If you enable push notifications, we collect device and notification identifiers needed to deliver alerts and associate them with your account.
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve OpenSky.
- Create and manage accounts.
- Publish and verify sighting reports.
- Deliver nearby-sighting and account notifications.
- Provide and restore Premium subscription access.
- Protect the service and prevent misuse.
- Respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests.
Service providers
We use Supabase for authentication, databases, and media storage; RevenueCat and Apple for subscriptions; OneSignal and Apple Push Notification service for notifications; and Google Maps services for location features. These providers process information according to their privacy terms and our instructions.
We do not sell personal information.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect OpenSky. We use reasonable safeguards, but no electronic service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can change camera, location, photo-library, and notification permissions in device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information.

Children's privacy
OpenSky is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
